Deadmau5 playing with a circuit bent Speak N Spell

It’s weird to see him without his helmet on. Also, I really want to learn how to circuit bend things. I’ve got a stock pile of potentially annoying electronics to tamper with. Now to learn to solder.

Joel McHale and Jimmy Fallon play Egg Russian Roulette

This looks like a lot of fun. Who wants to play?

#Musicmonday – Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams

The other night Corey and I were up late reliving old “New Wave Hits of the 80s” compilations we had when we were wee teens and how those specific mixes were instrumental in shaping our tastes today. We both agreed that Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics was an all-around flawless 80s song.

Fast forward to this morning someone was blasting this song from their car at the intersection while we loaded more displays into the shop. I like it when the universe provides a soundtrack. Who am I to disagree?

Annie Lennox was the second caricature I did for my regular Column Quote puzzles back in 2010.

We are all related

Not only would we not be here without a little incest… ok a LOT of incest, but we all share atoms in our bodies at this very moment with Shakespeare and Buddha.

The V Motion Project

The V Motion Project from Assembly on Vimeo.

The Motion Project was a collaboration between a lot of clever creative people working together to create a machine that turns motion into music. Personally, I can’t wait for the guitar hero version of this.

Colin Mochrie plays with Star Wars action figures

Sure you may have a bunch of these packed away MIB in your closet, but crack them open! This is the sort of fun you’re missing out on!

Turntables that make art

Drawing Apparatus from Robert Howsare on Vimeo.

I want enough weird equipment laying around that I can make projects like this. Fun!

Flame Thrower Vs. Wasps

The action starts around the 1:00 mark. OMG!

Good instructions on how to burn your fingertips repeatedly make rockets out of matchsticks. If i didn’t think that this would inspire my son to burn down our house, I’d make some with him.

Trololo kid

This kid does a hilarious job lip-syncing to the Trololo song.

World’s most extreme zip line

Vertical drop of 600 meters over a total distance of 1.8km makes this the world’s steepest, tallest and one of the longest ziplines. Its also one of the fastest with top speeds of upto 140 kmph. This zipline is located on Sarangkot, about 10 km from the beautiful town of Pokhara.

Robot dancing to Cake

I want to go to there.

Robber fly dancing to Dubstep

Speaking of dancing things… even robber flies are not immune to the wubwubwub drop!

Landing on Mars

7 minutes of terror before the signal reaches earth letting us know that the Mars rover has completed a very complicated procedure to land safely on the surface. The dramatic music doesn’t help either. Maybe the scientists should turn it off.

Dungeons and Dragons cartoon if it were an actual D&D adventure

A little long but worth the watch. Pretty good interpretation of the only Dungeons and Dragons episode I actually remember. I want to play again :(

Look back in time to the coagulating center of our universe, or CMB and find out how you can help name all the “mountains” and “oceans” therein.

Why McDonald’s burgers look better on the menus

I’m fascinated by the are of food photography, and only slightly deterred by the fact that this is a McDonald’s product. These burgers get less touching up than your average fashion model, so there’s that.

A catchy remix song from Pulp Fictions produced by POGO.

#Musicmonday – The Queers – Punk Rock Girls

On Friday, Corey and I went to Mac’s in Lansing to see our friend Ben’s band, Frank and Earnest, play with The Queers. The Ataris were also supposed to play but their van broke down and they couldn’t make it. Frank and Earnest were great and it was good to see Ben rock out.

The Queers were really tight and really fun. I haven’t been to a good punk show with a mosh pit and stage diving in a long long time. It was a really positive energetic crowd and I even got into the pit for maybe 30 seconds before I got winded because I’m old and lame.

Here’s a shitty video of their “hit” Punk Rock Girls:

Here’s the actual song:

We hung out with Ben and some of his other bandmates for a bit at the merch table and then Corey and I drove home and ended up staying up until 3 in the morning. Maybe I’m not so old and lame after all.

Page Turner Rube Goldberg machine

A nicely executed and intricate machine for turning the morning paper.

Slander by Trash Talk

An animated video for a punk band I’ve never heard of directed and animated by Jim Dirschberger the same guy who worked on Bob’s Burgers.

Dreamer/Dubstep

I’ve posted stuff by this guy before. Ignore all the set up and outro, this guy has some awesome dance moves… and on the Great Wall of China at that. Sweet!

Shit NOBODY Says

Ok. The “Shit _____ Says” phenomenon was overplayed almost immediately, but this pretty much seals the deal. Funniest on I’ve seen since the original.

Spidey vs. the Yeti

I loved these as a kid, and they were some of my first comics I ever owned. There are a ton more of these in related videos.
