Why the birther movement is an insult to ALL Americans

There’s not much more I can say about this. Listen and learn.

This can go with the Blue Grass cover of the Radiohead song I posted a while back. I don’t know about you, but I think this is great!

#musicmonday: Weird Al – Perform This Way

Weird Al – Perform This Way

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about the back and forth between Al and Lady Gaga (or rather Gaga’s record agents), but to me, since i don’t really listen to Lady Gaga, this parody is sort of lost on me. I don’t think it’s one of his best, but at least some proceeds are going to charity.

Lyrics:
My mama told me when I was hatched
Act like a superstar
Save your allowance, buy a bubble dress
And someday you will go far
Now on red carpets, well, I’m hard to miss
The press follows everywhere I go
I’ll poke your eye out with a dress like this
Back off and enjoy the show!

I’m sure my critics will say it’s a grotesque display
Well, they can bite me, baby — I perform this way
I might be wearin’ Swiss cheese or maybe covered with bees
It doesn’t mean I’m crazy — I perform this way

Ooo, my little monsters pay… lots ’cause I perform this way
Baby, I perform this way
Ooo, don’t worry, I’m okay… hey, I just perform this way
I’m not crazy, I perform this way

I’ll be a troll or evil queen
I’ll be a human jelly bean
‘Cause every day is Halloween
For me…

I’m so completely original
My new look is all the rage
I’ll wrap my small intestines ’round my neck
And set fire to myself on stage
Weird Al Yankovic Perform This Way lyrics found on http://www.directlyrics.com/weird-al-yankovic-perform-this-way-lyrics.html

I’ll wear a porcupine on my head
On a W-H-I-M
And for no reason now I’ll sing in French
Excusez-moi, Qui a pété? (Who cut the cheese?)

Got my straight jacket today, it’s made of gold lamé
No, not because I’m crazy – I perform this way
I strap prime rib to my feet, cover myself with raw meat
I’ll bet you’ve never seen a skirt steak worn this way

Don’t be offended when you see
My latest pop monstrosity
I’m strange, weird, shocking, odd, bizarre
I’m Frankenstein, I’m Avatar
There’s nothing too embarrassing
I’ll honestly do anything
But wear white after Labor Day
‘Cause baby, I perform this way

Hope you won’t think it’s cliché if I go nude today
Don’t call the cops now, baby, I perform this way
No reason I should regret all the attention I get
I’m not completely crazy, I perform this way, yeah

I perform this way-hey, I perform this way-hey
I’m always deviating from the norm this way-hey
I perform this way-hey, I perform this way-hey
I’m really not insane — I just perform this way-hey

Polvo – A link in the chain

I’m so glad these guys are still around and making awesome music!

Lyrics
In a dream I saw you taking control
Treading lightly upon my soul
It’s the pain that makes me want to call your name
When I wake up to another day
I know you’re just a drop in the sea
Airplanes keep flying over me
Everyday I wonder when you’ll come and go
It’s nothing that I need to know

There’s no confusion and there is no eye
For nowhere to look for me to go
I’ll change the words
The chariot to carry me home
I’ll welcome you to look inside
A link in the chain
A thousand waves
A link in the chain

The reception in a comfortable place
Just a ripple in empty space
The fatigue on trying to close another door
That’s a feeling that I had before

There’s no confusion and there is no eye
For nowhere to look for me to go
I’ll change the words
The chariot to carry me home
I’ll welcome you to look inside
A link in the chain
A thousand waves
A link in the chain

The reception in a comfortable place
Just a ripple in empty space
The fatigue on trying to close another door
That’s a feeling that I had before
I know you’re just a drop in the sea
Airplanes keep flying over me
Everyday I wonder when you’ll come and go
It’s nothing that I need to know

This looks really neat. I’d love a chance to play around with some of this.

Bluegrass Radiohead Cover

The Punch Brothers cover 2+2=5 at the 2010 Pick-a-thon

Sexy Sax Man (Careless Whisper)

This guy is pretty douch-y, but he’s good at what he does. and what he does is play Careless Whisper over and over again to the chagrin of security guards everywhere.

Granted it’s not a continuous take, but i still love machines like this.

How round are your circles?

Where Mathematics and engineering meet. Precision machines.

Listen to this while watching the Circles video

I recently learned the actual definitions of Dubsteb and have been digging some deep bass wobbles. Use this as a soundtrack for the mathy goodness above.

#musicmonday: Obladi, Oblada by The Beatles

Cover Tune Grab Bag – Obladi, Oblada, Life Goes On by The Beatles

How can you listen to this song and not be happy? Look at how much fun these freaks are having! Good times!

Lyrics
Desmond has his barrow in the market place…
Molly is the singer in a band…
Desmond says to Molly “Girl, I like your face”
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

Desmond takes a trolley to the jewelry store…
Buys a twenty carat golden ring…
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door…
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

In a couple of years they have built a home sweet home,
With a couple of kids running in the yard,
Of Desmond and Molly Jones… (Ha ha ha ha ha)

Happy ever after in the market place…
Desmond lets the children lend a hand…
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face…
And in the evening she still sings it with the band…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

In a couple of years they have built a home sweet home,
With a couple of kids running in the yard,
Of Desmond and Molly Jones…
Happy ever after in the market place…
Molly lets the children lend a hand…
Desmond stays at home and does his pretty face…
And in the evening she’s a singer with the band…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on…
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, brah!…
Lala how the life goes on.

And if you want some fun…take Ob-la-di-bla-da

Brilliantly edited and if this had been a political event instead of a sports loss, this would be a really powerful and inspiring video. instead it’s just creepy and chilling. It’s weird to see my old campus with cops in riot gear marching down broad street.
