Today is my son’s 3rd birthday. This is the song he was named for.
Lyrics
Half an hour, change your strings and tune up
Sizing the room up
Checking the bar
Local girls, unspoken conversation
Misinformation
Plays guitar
They say Jonah, he was swallowed by a whale
But I say there’s no truth to that tale
I know Jonah
He was swallowed by a song
No one gives their dreams away too lightly
They hold them tightly
Warm against cold
One more year of traveling ‘round this circuit
Then you can work it into gold
They say Jonah, he was swallowed by a whale
But I say there’s no truth to that tale
I know Jonah
He was swallowed by a song
Here’s to all the boys who came along
Carrying soft guitars in cardboard cases
All night long
And do you wonder where those boys have gone?
Do you wonder where those boys have gone?
The revolution may not be televised, but it will be tweeted. This is a powerful piece about how the internet and social networking are enabling the voices of the masses to be heard.
King Philip IV visits his portrait
He kinda looks like Mark Zuckerberg.

Kevin Gallagher spent 6 months hiking the 2200-miles from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin in Maine. Now you can do it in just over 4 minutes.
Ugh. #1 hits are intolerable. It’s like a bad 30-minute flashback that makes me glad i never listened to the radio much. There are a few moments of pleasant nostalgia, but it’s generally stomach churning. I’m listening to it for the first time as i type this and am only at that craptastic song from Titanic. I wonder if it gets any better as the years peel away?
I only recently realized that “Hard” is Chris Hardwick from G4!Nice!
Hard and Phirm – Pi Lyrics
When ink and pen in hands of men
Inscribe your form, bipedal “P”
They draw an altar on which
God has slaughtered all stability
No eyes could ever soak in all the places you anoint
And yet to see you all at once we only need the point
Flirting with infinity, your geometric progeny
That fit inside you oh so tight
With triangles that feel so right
Your ever-constant homily says flaw is discipline
The patron saint of imperfection frees us from our sin
And if our transcendental lift shall find a final floor
Then Man will know the death of God where wonder was before
Yeah, I know this Pi shit backwards and forwards
Check it out
I did three chicks then I pointed at the door
A girl entered in so that made it four
I snapped one time in came another five
Add ‘em all up and that makes nine
The average age 26.5
Now that’s what I call gettin’ some pi
Five of the chicks wore 6-inch heels
Two of the nine squealed like seals
514 was the area code
Quebec, Canada my winter abode
And my 1.3 million dollar chalet
This looks amazing. I love the 8-bit style but they’re really bringing something new to it too. Look for more around the vernal equinox.
Nostromo – Binary Overdrive
Not sure what this is from, but it’s gorgeous. Not so into the song but the animation is amazing. Thanks Wattana for the tip!
Solowheel
Hey, it’s those little wheelie things from the comic B.C. For the low low price of $1500 you can have this truncated segway that’s far more portable (if maybe a little less comfortable to ride).
Harpo Marx vs. Milton Berle
That Harpo is a talented guy. Note the Kraft Kitchens plug at the very end!
Lance Burton Magic
I’m a sucker for sleight of hand and this routine is amazing.
I don’t know much about this band, but i feel like this style of country/folk music is influenced not by traditional Americana/Nashville country, but from indie pop boiled down and purified to remove the irony. It almost seems purer that way.
Lyrics:

I kept seeing people saying “put a bird on it” and had to look it up to see what it was from. Fred Armisen’s Portlandia apparently.
Jay Pharoah does 50 impressions
The new guy from Saturday Night Live in what was probably part of his audition tape. Good stuff.
Speaking of Impressions
This is a damned good Nic Cage impression by Rob Magnotti.
U Smile slowed down
I know this is old, but i relistened and love it all over again. Justin Beiber’s U Smile slowed down 800% turns into a Sigur Ros ballad!
Conan plays life-sized Angry Birds
Balloon pigs hidden under IKEA furniture + a giant sling shot. This must have been a fun day at work for the production department. Unfortunately you have to sit through 30 seconds of George Lopez first
Original air date May 16, 2009. This was an amazing thing to see on television especially during a cameo-studded return of Will Ferrell, season finale. I’ve always thought this a powerful Billy Joel song and this version is no less effective.
